With core principles of fun, age-appropriate instruction, convenience, and good sportsmanship, coaching kids with AYSA is a blast! Our one day a week format includes a practice just before the game. This means your coaching commitment can fit easily into your busy schedule. Whether you are a parent, extended family member or just an active community member, coaching kids with AYSA will not only be fun and easy, but you will also have a positive impact on the lives of young athletes.

AYSA provides all you need to feel like an expert out on the field or court! We provide our volunteer coaches with the necessary training, staff support during game-day, and a variety of online sport and communication resources. Our coaching resources for each sport include videos of fundamental skills, drills and plays. We also provide a weekly practice plan tailored specifically for your team’s age group. The plan is sent directly to your inbox each week prior to game day. All of these resources allow you to deliver quality, age appropriate instruction to the kids without the stress of creating your own plan.a

How Can I become a coach?

  • Step 1

    Register for our program offering

    To get started, please register your child for the sport of their choosing. During the registration process, you will be asked a question about whether you are interested in coaching. Please mark "Yes" if you are interested. From there, we will reach out to you with the next steps in this process.

  • Step 2

    Complete Background Check

    Atlanta Youth Sports Association requires all coaches to go through a background check.  AYSA will handle everything on our end, all you will need to do is provide the necessary information.  You will can either click here or you will receive a link via email to complete your complimentary background check with our preferred partner, Sterling Volunteers. To ensure a timely return, please complete the form within 24 hours of receipt. This will only take a few moments.

  • STEP 3

    Attend the AYSA Coaches Meeting

    Once your volunteer application has been submitted, you will receive instructions and details about the upcoming seasons coaches meeting.

    At our organization, we are committed to providing our volunteer youth sports coaches with all the tools and resources they need to succeed. We understand the importance of having knowledgeable and well-equipped coaches to help young athletes develop their skills and reach their full potential. That's why we offer comprehensive training programs, practice plans, coaching guides, and other resources to support our coaches in their roles. With our support, our coaches can feel confident and prepared to deliver a positive and enriching sports experience for our young athletes. 

    Approximately 1-2 weeks before the season, you will be notified (by email or phone) with the details of a pre-season coaches meeting. This meeting will allow for an AYSA staff member to go over mandatory training, share important program information with you and give an opportunity for you to ask coaching questions. The purpose is to ensure that you, parents, and players all have a great AYSA Experience. Meetings will be in person. Thank you for being a part of the AYSA team! You’re going to be a great coach!
