Overview

Welcome to Atlanta Youth Sports Association's baseball program, where young athletes embark on an exciting journey of skill development, camaraderie, and sportsmanship. Our baseball leagues cater to various age groups, ensuring that every child can experience the joy of playing the sport in a positive and supportive environment. Unlike traditional leagues, we focus on fostering a love for baseball through inclusive and non-competitive play.

What Sets Us Apart:

  • Skill Development: Our programs prioritize fundamental skill development, allowing players to hone their abilities in hitting, pitching, catching, throwing, and base-running. Coaches provide personalized attention to nurture each child's potential.
  • Inclusive Atmosphere: We believe in equal opportunities for all players, ensuring that every child receives ample playing time and encouragement regardless of their skill level. Our leagues are designed to be inclusive, welcoming children of all backgrounds and abilities.
  • Positive Coaching: Our dedicated volunteer coaches are passionate about empowering young athletes. They undergo comprehensive training and are equipped with the knowledge and enthusiasm to inspire and guide players on their baseball journey.
  • Teamwork and Sportsmanship: Beyond the game, we emphasize the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship. Players learn valuable life skills such as collaboration, communication, and respect, fostering an environment where friendships flourish.
  • Parental Involvement: We recognize the vital role parents play in a child's sports experience. We encourage active participation, whether it's cheering from the sidelines, volunteering, or simply providing unwavering support.

Join us at Atlanta Youth Sports Association's baseball program, where your child can explore the world of baseball, make lasting friendships, and develop essential life skills in a nurturing and encouraging setting. Thank you for considering us for your child's sports journey.

Schedule

All divisions will meet twice a week, with a scheduled practice being one day a week and a game another day during the week.

We understand that families need time to plan their schedules, which is why we will post and share the schedules for all of our recreation leagues one week prior to the start of the season. We want to ensure that everyone is aware of the game times and locations well in advance, so there are no surprises. However, please note that there may be some changes to the schedule during the season due to elements beyond our control. We will do our best to communicate any changes as soon as possible and make adjustments to minimize any inconvenience. At AYSA, we prioritize transparency and open communication with our families to provide the best experience possible for our young athletes. Thank you for choosing AYSA for your child's sports activities.

League Rules

T-Ball:

  • Team Size: Typically, T-Ball teams are small to ensure everyone gets ample playing time and attention from coaches.
  • Hitting: Players hit the ball off a stationary tee, allowing them to focus on developing their batting skills.
  • Fielding: All players are usually on the field during defensive plays. Fielding positions are not as strict as in higher divisions, encouraging participation and learning.
  • Scoring: Scores and standings are often not kept at this level. The emphasis is on skill development, teamwork, and fun.
  • Coach Involvement: Coaches are actively involved, guiding players on the field and providing encouragement and instruction.

Minor League:

  • Player Pitching: Coaches typically pitch to the players, allowing them to learn hitting against live pitching while maintaining a controlled environment.
  • Fielding: Basic fielding positions are introduced, teaching players about the infield and outfield positions.
  • Base Running: Players learn the rules of base running, including advancing on hits and understanding when to stay on a base or attempt to advance.
  • Scoring: Scores may be kept, but the focus remains on skill development and teamwork. Winning and losing are secondary to learning and having fun.
  • Coach Involvement: Coaches continue to provide instruction but may gradually allow players to make decisions on the field.

Major League:

  • Player Pitching: Players pitch, fostering a more competitive environment. Coaches might step in to pitch if a player struggles to maintain the flow of the game.
  • Fielding: Players have designated positions, and defensive strategies become more structured. Players learn the importance of teamwork and communication.
  • Base Running: Advanced base running skills are developed, including stealing bases and understanding when to advance on hits.
  • Scoring: Scores are kept, and leagues may have playoffs and championships, introducing a competitive element while still focusing on skill development and sportsmanship.
  • Coach Involvement: Coaches provide strategic guidance, focusing on refining players' skills and understanding of the game. Players are encouraged to make decisions on their own while playing.
